HUB, Nov 8: The Lasbela Headquarters Hospital, Uthal, is short of specialist doctors and necessary surgical equipment, district Nazim Jam Kamal Khan learnt this during his visit to the hospital on Wednesday.

Officials at the hospital informed the Nazim that due to the unavailability of specialist doctors and necessary surgical equipment, the district people were facing great hardships, as they had to go to Karachi and other areas for surgical operations and consultation.

They appealed to the authorities concerned for the prompt provision of doctors and equipment so that the people of Lasbela could get access to health facilities at their door steps. The Nazim assured the officials that the local representatives would take all steps to redress their grievances.

PROTEST THREATENED: Local bodies representatives have warned that they will launch an agitation movement if the management of the International Power does not fulfil its promises.

In a joint statement, issued here on Wednesday, the Nazim of the Alahabad union council, Hub, Rajab Rind, and councillors said that when Hubco had come into being, the managements of Hubco and the International Power had promised to provide jobs to the locals on priority basis and health and education facilities.

They regretted that neither any jobs nor any facilities had been provided to the people by the company, and added that since the International Power had taken the charge of Hubco’s operational side, it, too, had neglected the locals.
