Veerappan kidnaps ex-minister

BANGALORE, Aug 25: Suspected members of a gang led by India’s most wanted bandit, M. Veerappan, kidnapped a former state minister on Sunday after a shootout, a police official said.

H. Nagappa, a former health minister belonging to the centrist Janata Dal of Karnataka state, was dragged out of his car in Mysore district, about 200 kilometres south of Bangalore, as he returned home from a public meeting.—AFP
