HYDERABAD, Aug 25: The GSTA has decided to stage a three-day hunger strike from Aug 28 to 30 outside Hyderabad District Nazim office if problems of the secondary teachers of Hyderabad district were not resolved by Aug 27.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Hyderabad chapter of the Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA), held here on Sunday.

Mr Jan MOhammad Parhiar presided over the meeting which was attended by the local office-bearers of the association.

The meeting criticised the EDO, education, Hyderabad, for failing to resolve problems of the teachers of Hyderabad district.

It was observed in the meeting that while the selection grades had been given to the teachers of other districts in July 2000, the teachers of Hyderabad district had been ignored.

The meeting observed that the secretary, education, Sindh, had issued orders for the promotions and selection grades for the teachers, to the EDOs on Nov 16 2001 but the EDO, Hyderabad, ignored these orders.
