THATTA, Aug 18: Three picnickers, including a woman and a child, drowned when the boat they were sailing in capsized in the Keenjhar Lake near here on Sunday.

The picnickers, resident of Gowdhra Colony, Karachi, were going to the graves of Noori-Jam Tamachi, the two characters of a popular love story, located on an island in the deep waters of the legendary lake.

Siddiq, 40, Hajira, 25, and Zoaif, 8, drowned while 15 others were rescued by some local fishermen.

The bodies of the drowned people were recovered after two hours and sent to Karachi in Edhi ambulances and the rescued people were discharged after being treated at the Makli Civil Hospital.
