PESHAWAR, Aug 18: The Election Commission has notified the district returning officer and returning officers for the four national assembly and 11 provincial assembly constituencies of the provincial capital.
The Peshawar district and sessions judge, Ziauddin Khattak, will serve as the district returning officer for the whole district.
Four additional district and sessions judges namely, Hussain Bahadur, Pir Buksh, Saleem Khan, and Ikramullah have been appointed as returning officers of NA 1, 2, 3, and 4 constituencies respectively.
Four other additional district and sessions judges, Azhar Habib, Sardar Irshad, Shehbar Khan, and Wajihuddin have been designated as returning officers of the provincial assembly constituencies of PF 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively.
Similarly, seven civil judges-cum-judicial magistrates namely, Syed Asghar Shah, Hafiz Naseem, Asad Hameed Bangash, Shafiullah Jan, Fazal Sattar, Adil Akber, and Abdul Baseer have been appointed as returning officers of remaining provincial assembly constituencies of PF- 5 to PF- 11 respectively.
For the 12 national assembly constituencies of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) the election commission has notified that the political agents of the seven tribal agencies- Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, North and South Waziristan, Bajaur and Mohmand — would serve as returning officers of these constituencies.
For the frontier regions of Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, D.I.Khan, and Tank, the commission has directed that the district revenue officers would serve as returning officers.
Meanwhile, as most of the additional district and sessions judges and civil judges were on vacation, therefore, for performing their election responsibilities the high court has cancelled their vacations and directed them to attend their offices on Monday, when submission of nomination papers will start.
