ISLAMABAD, Aug 17: The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday denied reported attack and thrashing of the staff and villagers in Faqirwali.

It said a dispute between the local land grabbers and Naval Families Rehabilitation Officer started on taking over the possession of the disputed land by the NFRO which was allotted to the Navy by the government.

After getting the possession, necessary sanction of water as per the laid-down procedure of irrigation department was obtained. At the time of watering the land, the dispute took place when the Naval officer pointed out the theft of water by the local landlords on which the landlords along with the villagers threatened the Naval officer. Consequently an FIR was lodged with Faqirwali police station and the land grabbers were taken into custody, it said.
