HYDERABAD, Aug 16: The Chief Engineer, Hesco, Abdur Rasheed, has said that his company was doing its best to provide protective gear to its employees.

He said that safety committees, comprising Wapda engineers and representatives of the CBA unions, had been set up to suggest safety measures to protect lives of the employees.

He was speaking at the concluding session of the two-day seminar, organized by All Pakistan Federation of Trade Unions on the topic of “Professional hazards and measures to check them” here on Friday.

The chief engineer urged the line staff to serve the power consumers as best as they could.

The CBA union leaders, Latif Nizamani, Mohammad Iqbal, Kazi Saleem Anwar, Saeed Ahmed and others said that the union was organizing seminars to educate Wapda employees about safety measures to be taken during performance of their duties which were very risky.

They called upon the workers to promote safety culture to save their lives.

They said that Wapda had already issued instructions to the line staff not to risk their lives unless they were provided protective gears.
