PESHAWAR, Aug 13: The Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao) and Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) have reached an agreement that both parties would contest elections under their respective election symbols, but there would be seat adjustment in certain constituencies.

This was stated in a joint communique issued after a meeting held between Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and Mian Mohammad Azhar at the People’s House on Tuesday.

The document called upon all democratic forces to join hands in cementing efforts to bring about a truly representative democratic government in the country.

They decided to set up committees which would work together to implement the decisions of the meeting and make seat adjustments on a constituency-to-constituency basis.

At the meeting, the PPP(S) was represented by Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Kamran Khan, Barrister Iftikhar Ahmad, and others.

Mian Azhar, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Saleem Saifullah and Majeed Malik were prominent among those who attended the meeting from the PML(Q).—PPI
