KARACHI, Nov 7: Children lodged at Central Jail enjoyed food and fun on Wednesday, organized as part of the “Food for Special Children” programme.

So far special children from some 25 institutes in the city, working for the blind, deaf and dumb, physically and mentally- retarded have attended these programmes.

During the programme at Central Jail, which continued from 11am to 4pm, Ilyas Kushtiwala, owner of a local hotel, hosted food for the children where ice cream, mineral water and soft drinks were also served.

While the children were entertained in the open area within the jail premises, the female inmates were served food inside their barracks.

Various sports were organized for children and those winning positions were awarded cups and gifts. A magic show was also a great source of joy and the children were particularly fascinated by the clowns.

Performance by local artiste, Farzana Naz, was an added attraction for the jail children. Toys were also distributed among the children.

Under the programme organized by artist and social worker, Jimmy Engineer, and carried out in cooperation with Pakistan Hotels Association, a number of hotels and restaurants have offered lunches for special children.—APP
