Sundar Industrial Estate

Published March 7, 2010

THE Sundar Industrial Estate was established by the government of Pervaiz Elahi with the vision of a model industrial estate in view. Since the change of government, this estate is being neglected.

The infrastructure is still incomplete whereas costs of plots, electricity connection and other charges have increased.

Already the industry is in crisis. Instead of reducing the cost of establishing a factory, the Punjab Industrial Estates is increasing these costs. Most of the plots are vacant as the owners are reluctant to set up their factories.

The initial target of 100 factories by the end of year 2007 has still not been achieved. The chief minister must take immediate steps for the fulfilment of the previous government's aspiration to make Sundar Industrial Estate a real model estate of Pakistan.
