ISLAMABAD, Aug 10: Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration on Saturday fixed the official price of a Roti (bread) at Rs2.50.

The price of Roti has been revised on the demand of Tandoorwalas, who said that they could not sell it for Rs2.00.

The price of Roti had not been revised for the last six years, while the rates of power, gas, petrol, wheat flour and labour had increased by manifold, they said.

Meanwhile, Sui Northern Gas Pipe Lines (SNGPL) has directed all the Tandoor owners to deposit Rs25,000 as security for the installation of gas metres and supply lines.

Some of the Tandoorwalas said the Sui Northern Gas Pipe Lines was demanding the security from those, which were established over five years ago or more than that. “It is unfair,” they said.

There are some reports that Roti is being sold at Rs3.00 each in some parts of the federal capital.

The residents of Islamabad criticised the local administration and the government for not taking any action on sudden increase in the rate of bread.
