KARACHI, Aug 9: A division bench of Sindh High Court (SHC), comprising Justice Zahid Qurban Alavi and Justice Ghulam Rabbani, on Friday ordered the police investigation officer (IO) of Saeedabad police to submit a final challan within seven days in case of harassing a resident of Baldia Town Nasima Begum and her son Muhammad Riaz.

Nasima Bagum, a resident of Baldia Town, filed a petition through her counsel Abdul Hussain, stating that SI Rauf of Saeedabad police station on July 1 harassed her son and later on her intervention, he allegedly beat her up, and she received injuries and got her arm fractured.

Abdul Hussain, counsel of petitioner, further contended that after hearing hue and cry of her son Riaz, his mother Nasima came out of her home, and tried to save her son from the SI.

After the incident, she went to the Saeedabad police to lodge an FIR against the SI but the SHO declined to register an FIR against the accused. Later, an FIR was registered on the intervention of IGP besides, he also ordered suspension of SI Rauf.

On the directives of TPO, the police registered a fake FIR but omitted the name of SI Rauf from the FIR.

The AAG submitted that the petition application of has been received, and appropriate action would be taken against the SI.—PPI
