FAISALABAD, Aug 8: The district government has received 35,842 applications from highly qualified candidates for 1,300 vacant posts of teachers in the district.

About 50 per cent of the applicants have the Masters degree despite the fact that graduation was the required education for the job.

A panel comprising education department officials and members of the education committee of the district government has started interviews of the applicants.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that applicants were approaching councillors and other influential people to get recommendation letters to get job.

The government had advertised the jobs in the national press to recruit teachers for far off areas.

INDEPENDENCE DAY: The Faisalabad Art Council has chalked out an eight-day programme to celebrate the Independence Day in a befitting manner.

The celebrations will continue from Aug 9 to 16 in the parking area of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan auditorium.
