KARACHI, Aug 7: A case has been registered against a union council Naib Nazim for allegedly demanding illegal gratification from mourners for burying a dead in a graveyard in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

The police said the case has been registered under section 297 & 298 of the PPC against Qamar Ali Bangash of the UC-10 of Gulistan-i-Johar. Following registration the case, the police have started looking for the Nazim.

The suspect had been charged with forcing the mourners to take the dead somewhere else if they did not pay the amount, which had ensued a brawl between them, and the mourners had to bury their beloved one at the Model Colony graveyard.

An ASI, Javed, is already placed under suspension and a departmental inquiry had been initiated against him, a police official said.
