National canoeing from tomorrow

KARACHI, Aug 6: The four-day VII National Canoeing Championship will be held at Defence Marina Club from Thursday under the auspices of Sindh Canoeing Association (SCA).

The championship will be held in five different classes of boats in men, women and junior events, a spokesman of SCA said Tuesday.

Kayaks representing Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Army, Punjab, NWFP, Balochistan, Islamabad , University Grants Commission (UGC), and host Sindh are expected to battle for honors in the championship.

Kayak-I, Kayak-2, Kayak-4, Canadian Canoe-I, C-II in 200 meter, Kayak-I, Kayak-2, Kayak-4, C-I, C-2, 500 meter and all the five class in 1000 meter races will be contested in men’s class.

Women’s will appear in 200 and 500 meter, Kayak-I, Kayak-II competition. Juniors under-18 will contest in 500 meter Kayak-I and boys under-14 and 16 will figure in 200 meter Kayak-I event.

The meeting of managers and captains will be held at venue Wednesday at 7.00p.m—APP
