VEHARI, Aug 5: The story of a 16-year-old-girl subjected to criminal assault on the order of Panchayat in Hasilpur was turned out to be fake.

This was stated by Vehari district police officer Syed Jawed Hussain Shah in a press release.

He said Inayat Hussain, elder son of Khair Din, had contracted love marriage with Nasim Akhter, daughter of Nazir Hussain of Hasilpur, about one-and-a-half-year ago. After the marriage, Inayat along with his wife reached his house in Chab-Kalan, Khanewal district. But the relatives and the Gujjar biradari boycotted Khair Din who shifted to Vehari and rented a house in Pir Murad Colony about a month ago.

On July 19, Mehram Din along with Nazir Hussain had come to his brother Khair Din’s house at Pir Murad. After a patch up between the two brothers, Khair Din’s family, including Inayat Hussain, his wife Nasim Akhter and Khadija Bibi, reached the house of Nazir and Mehram in Hasilpur. Here Khair Din announced the engagement of his daughter Khadija Bibi with Muhammad Ramzan, son of Nazir Hussain, in the presence of the Gujjar biradari.

On July 20, Ramzan had contracted marriage with Khadija Bibi while her father Khair Din signed on nikah nama papers. Khair Din and his family had stayed for three days in Nazir’s house.

On Aug 1, Khair Din had lodged a fake case under hudood ordinance with the Saddar police against 12 people, including Nazir Hussain and Mehram Din.

Later, Khair Din provided a copy of the fake story to the offices of local newspapers which published the story on their front pages without conducting any investigation.

The Vehari DPO had constituted an investigation team who visited Hasilpur, Khanewal and Pir Murad and submitted its inquiry report after meeting with family members and their relatives. The investigation revealed that no incident of criminal assault was reported in Hasilpur or Pir Murad with Khair Din’s daughter Khadija Bibi. The final report would be submitted during the next few days.
