ISLAMABAD: Traders reject strike call

Published November 7, 2001

ISLAMABAD, Nov 6: Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), Traders Action Committee and representatives of different traders associations have rejected the strike call on November 9.

President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Munawar Mughal informed during a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Islamabad on Tuesday.

He said the business community would not participate in the strike in the larger interest of the nation and the business activities would continue as usual on November 9.

He said ICCI would also set up “sasta bazaars” in the federal capital to provide edible items and other necessities to the consumers at cheaper rates during the month of Ramzan.

On the occasion, the deputy commissioner assured the business community that district administration and Islamabad police had made fool-proof security arrangements and the business community and transporters would be provided full protection.

“No one will be allowed to create any law and order situation in the district,” he added.—APP
