PESHAWAR, Aug 3: Khyber Teaching Hospital has acquired the status of Baby Friendly Hospital, said a press release on Saturday.

The BFH was launched in Pakistan by the World Health Organization in 1992.

The idea was to focus on the needs of the mother and the newborn child.

Experts agree that breast-feeding is the most effective way to provide baby with a caring environment and complete food which gives protection against infections and diseases.

An award giving ceremony will be held at the KTH on Tuesday in which prominent obstetricians, gynaecologists and other specialists will speak on the subject.
