Man, minor son killed on road

VEHARI, July 31: A man and his minor son were killed and another injured on Wednesday in an accident on the Vehari-Burewala Road.

Akber Ali of Jhawrian, Sargodha, along with his two sons Shahbaz (17) and minor was going to Vehari from Burewala by motorcycle (8050-VRC). Near the toll tax stop, a speeding bus (8276-ED-D) hit the motorcycle as a result of which Akber and his three-year-old son died instantly while Shahbaz received injuries. He was rushed to the local DHQ Hospital from where he was shifted to Nishtar Hospital, Multan, for his critical condition.

Police are going into the matter.

DEATH SENTENCE: A local court on Wednesday awarded death sentence on two counts and fined Rs0.5 million to a convict in a murder case.

He will have to undergo six-month imprisonment if he fails to make the payment.

The judge acquitted three co-accused — Muhammad Shafi, Muhammad Ali and Abdul Shakoor for lack of evidence.

According to the prosecution, Faiz Muhammad along with Muhammad Shafi, Muhammad Ali and Abdul Shakoor had killed their cousins Muhammad Hanif and Muhammad Zaman over a land dispute at Chak 184/EB on Aug 10, 1997.
