KARACHI, Nov 5: Arshad Khan claimed a match haul of 12 for 185 to spearhead Allied Bank’s emphatic nine-wicket victory over PWD in the Patron’s Trophy Grade-I clash at UBL Sports Complex here Monday.

The tall Test off-spinner, leading his department in this game, gave the national selectors another reminder that he’s still a force to be reckoned with by snapping up four for 105 in PWD’s second innings of 299. Arshad had captured a career-best eight for 80 in the first innings Friday.

Starting the day requiring a further 87 runs to avoid innings defeat, PWD added 135 to the overnight 164 for four shortly before tea on the fourth and final afternoon.

Allied Bank achieved their third win of the season just after tea by reaching 49 for one with Aamir Hanif striking four boundaries in his unbeaten 23.

Bazid’s defiant knock was laced with four fours.

Fahim Ahmed Senior also batted well to make 45 off 137 balls in two hours with the aid of four hits to the fence. The stubborn seventh-wicket partnership between Bazid and Fahim realized 55 in 73 minutes.

Earlier stand-in PWD skipper Iqbal Imam contributed 33 off 75 balls with three boundaries.

Arshad’s spinning partner, slow left-armer Mohammad Zahid Senior chipped in with three for 106 in 43 overs.

Humayun Farhat extended his haul of dismissals in PWd’s second innings to five by stumping Tanvir Ahmed off Zahid and then catching Haaris Ayaz off Arshad.
