PESHAWAR, July 29: A civil judge cum judicial magistrate was arrested here on Monday after his pre-arrest bail was cancelled by the Peshawar High Court in a murder case.

A single bench, comprising Justice Ijaz Afzal, observed that the accused was directly charged in the case and eye witnesses had claimed that he was present on the spot.

The accused, Mohammad Imran, is facing charges in the murder of Munir Khan, occurred on April 25, 2001, in the jurisdiction of police station Shabqadar.

The complainant party had charged him along with his brother. However, he was allowed pre-arrest bail by the district and sessions judge, Charssada. The complainant party filed a bail cancellation petition before the high court.

The complainant’s counsel contended that the accused was directly charged in the

FIR and the statements of eye witnesses showed his presence at the spot of occurrence.—Bureau Report
