KARACHI, July 27: The governor’s inspection team has said that the construction of illegal buildings continues in the city.

Addressing the officers of the Karachi Building Control Authority, during a visit to the KBCA, members of the team, Manzoor Ali Awan and Akhlaq Ahmed, pointed out that the objective of the KBCA was to control the illegal construction activity so that the city’s beauty was maintained. But this was not being witnessed and on the contrary multi-storeyed buildings were being constructed.

They cited the examples of Nazimabad, Federal B. Area and Gulshan- e-Iqbal where illegal commercial buildings have been constructed on a score of residential plots. They urged immediate action against illegal constructions.

They particularly showed displeasure over illegal construction activities in the KBCA’s circles A, B and C and called for an immediate and effective demolition action.

They directed the building inspectors to carry out the monitoring of their respective areas on weekly basis and submit a report thereof to their concerned officer. The officers were asked to submit their problems in writing for consideration.—APP
