PESHAWAR, July 25: The season-long training on onions in eastern region of the NWFP concluded at Potato Research Centre, Abbottabad, on Thursday.

Integrated Crop Management (ICM), in collaboration with the Swiss Agency for Development and Corporation (SDC), had organised the six-month-long training course for farmers, a press release said.

Speaking at the certificate distribution ceremony, NWFP Agriculture Extension Department director-general Mohammad Iqbal said new approaches and technologies could expedite the development pace and improve the life standard of the rural communities in the country.

He said the training was organised to enhance the self-reliability of the inward-looking resource-poor through hands on discovery-based learning process and practical “do how” about various aspects of the onion crop.
