KARACHI, Nov 5: The authorities at the NED University of Engineering and Technology delayed a final year examination of the Electrical Department for about two hours, on Monday, as the question paper was out beforehand, sources said.

It was learnt that some callers from outside the university informed the authorities that the paper of Computer Architecture and Organization was available with the candidates well in advance.

The caller dictated some of the questions and claimed that these were included in the question paper of the exam scheduled for Monday morning.

After investigations the claim was found to be genuine and the authorities decided to set up a second paper for the examination. The first paper was not distributed in the examination rooms, claimed an official concerned and added that the examination was finally held at 11.15am after preparation of the second paper.

An inquiry into the matter has been ordered by the vice- chancellor. Over 150 students belonging to different batches of the university are appearing in the final year examinations.

Meanwhile, a group of students claimed that the final year paper was taken back after distribution among the students at 9.30. Some of the questions leaked to candidates in advance were repeated in the second papers, the students said.
