RAWALPINDI, July 22: Three persons were killed in separate road accidents while a newly-married woman committed suicide on Sunday.

Salma, 16, had been married for two months, but soon separated from her husband after developing differences with him. When she failed to compromise with her in-laws, she returned to her parents’ house in Dhoke Morian where she shot herself with her father’s gun, the police said.

Meanwhile, two persons were hit by a car as they were crossing a road in Mandra, police said.

A witness told the police that Nazeer Hussain and Mohammad Taqueer were injured when a car (DN-22) hit them. They were shifted to the hospital where they died.

The driver, however, managed to escape from the scene, police said.

In another incident, a motorcyclist was killed after being knocked down by a truck (HR-1267) in Kallar Syedan.

EXTRADITION SOUGHT: The Criminal Investigation Department of Dubai has requested the government to extradite a Pakistani national accused of murdering his Russian girlfriend in the United Arab Emirates, an official source said on Monday.

In the light of the directives of the interior ministry and the IG Police Islamabad, the police have started an operation to track down the alleged killer, the source said.
