LAHORE, July 21: Three PML(QA) leaders, who remained behind the bars for one month each after being convicted by the Supreme Court, have approached the apex court with the request they should be allowed to take part in political activities.

These leaders are: Former MNAs Mian Muhammad Munir and Tariq Aziz and former minister Akhtar Rasool.

They were sentenced on the charge of attacking the Supreme Court.

In their petitions, the PML-QA leaders have argued that they had nothing to do with the attack but they served the term under order from the apex court. Everybody had the right to resume his business even after being convicted and thus they should be allowed to take part in politics.

They have filed the petitions so that nobody could raise any objection at the time of filing of the nomination papers.
