ISLAMABAD, Sept 9 The police commando who was injured in the attack on Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi last week died in hospital on Wednesday.

Head constable Mohammad Ashraf Sialvi lost the struggle to recover from the five bullets wounds that he had received in his neck, chest and hip in the assassination attempt on the minister.

He was taken to the Federal Government Services Hospital where he was kept in the ICU for four days and then shifted to Pims for better medical assistance.

He underwent a surgery in Pims where a team of neuro surgeons removed a bullet. He was then kept in the ICU but he died due to failure of multiple organs, including liver.

His funeral prayers were offered at the Police Lines Headquarters after which the body was transported to his native town.
