LAHORE, July 20: Five-year-old chestnut mare Arooj, who is lowly placed in the handicap, will be on trot to make it two in-a-row in the supporting event at the Lahore Gymkhana races at the Racecourse Sunday.
Arooj, is from Live For Others out-of-Julee and is contesting in the fourth race of the five events card drawn for the day. The Badami Bagh Plate with ten runners.
Likewise the supporting event, all races will be gone over the sprinting distance of 900 metres.
Arooj has already won a race on July 7 over the identical distance. Although promoted a division higher, she is assigned a light weight of seven stones ten pounds, which should help her pick up the spoils with a good rider astride.
Bay gelding Crysler and grey colt Al Zarrar, who are also good sprinters, may give her a stiff challenge to make her task difficult.
The feature event, the Lahore Plate, a class III, IV & V combined handicap race, has only six runners, barring last- minutes withdrawals.
If there are more withdrawals at the time of the declaration of riders, the race would be at the option of Lahore Race Club (LRC) stewards.
The opener and the second race has a dozen and 13 runners, respectively. In each event there are at least four or five chance contestants.
The first race will be held at 3. pm.
