KARACHI, July 20: A teenage boy was found hanging in an empty house in Orangi Extension on Saturday.

The police said that Asif, aged 16, went missing on July 18 from his house in Ali Nagar, Orangi Extension. His family searched for him, but they did not find him.

On Saturday, the police found Asif hanging from a ceiling in an empty under- construction house not far from his family’s home.

A police official said: “Asif’s death appears to be a case of suicide.” However, he added, since he was found hanging naked, the possibility of foul play could not be ruled out. This and other aspects would also be investigated to ascertain whether or not it was a murder, he said.

The family told the police that Asif, a student of class eight, was learning painting during the summer vacation. No action of his had indicated that he was fed up with life.

The family believed that Asif was killed, and he did not commit suicide.

CARJACKING: Sixteen vehicles — four cars and 12 motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Saturday, police sources said.

One car was hijacked. Three others were stolen.

Four motorcycles were hijacked and eight others were stolen in central and southern parts of the city.

The police also claimed on Saturday to have recovered two stolen cars and an equal number of motorcycles.

ELECTROCUTED: A man died of electrocution in his Orangi Town home on Saturday.

SUSPENDED: A section officer of the Clifton traffic police section and three other policemen were placed under suspension on Saturday for allegedly misbehaving with two journalists.

A spokesman for the police said that IG Sindh had ordered an inquiry into the incident, and added that stern action would be taken against these policemen.

Those who have been suspended are SO Clifton SI Malik Mohammed Ejaz, ASI Ikramul Haq, constable Mohammed Ilyas, and Abid Ali, a constable posted at Clifton police station. The spokesman said these policemen allegedly misbehaved with two journalists at Schon Circle in Clifton.
