ISLAMABAD, July 20: The services of over 3,000 employees of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), who have been working on daily wages for the last three years or more, will be regularized as soon as possible.

The decision to this effect was taken by the CDA board in its meeting on Saturday. The meeting was presided over by the authority chairman, Mir Laiq Shah.

A source said the daily-wage employees had requested the high-ranking official of the authority a number of times for regularization of their services.

The authority chairman has directed all CDA directorates to complete their reports regarding the exact number of daily-wage employees in their respective departments.

The meeting decided that the CDA should seek the government’s approval regarding filling of vacant posts by inducting employees from the surplus pool.

Some 650 CDA employees, who have already been declared surplus, should be re-adjusted in different directorates, the meeting decided.

It has been decided that the process of right-sizing will be stopped in the authority till the establishment of new setup in the federal capital under devolution plan, a senior official said.

He said, although, the work for the implementation of downsizing plan in the authority had been prepared and lists of surplus staff and those employees who would be subjected to forced retirement finalized, the final decision in this regard would be made by the new district government.
