KARACHI, July 20: Eight ships carrying containers are expected to arrive at the outer anchorage on Sunday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves was slow as only one tanker, Bunga Santan to discharge lube oil was berthed, while no vessel departed on Saturday.

Three ships, Iran Modaras, Candia-M and Hyundai Highway are due to sail out on Sunday after loading various commodities.

Owing to slow arrivals, the berth occupancy at the dry wharves fell to 22 per cent, while at the oil piers was maintained at 100 per cent thanks to steady arrival of oil tankers.

A total tonnage of 75,127 tons comprising 23,131 tons of export cargo including 15,250 tons of liquid tonnage and 51,996 tons of import tonnage mostly oils was handled.

The following ships are due to arrive on Sunday: Lanka Mahapola, Clipper, Dainty River, MSC Deila, Bunga Masempat, Corrado, Winco Feeder, Kota Intan, all with and to load containers.
