HYDERABAD, Aug 29 The Left Unity has demanded that the murder case of revolutionary leader Nazir Abbasi who was killed during Ziaul Haq's military government, should be reopened and the prime accused, Brig (Rtd) Imtiaz and others should be arrested.

The unity leaders Arz Mangi, Latif Inqalabi and Hakim Mangrio said at a meeting held here on Saturday that a chapter on Nazir Abbasi's life be included in the textbooks and a Nazir Abbasi chair be established in the Institute of Sindhology.

The meeting criticised change of name of Nazir Abbasi road by taluka council Tando Allahyar and called upon all leftist parties to raise voice for reopening of Abbasi murder case and arrest of Brig (Rtd) Imtiaz.

Meanwhile, activists of various left wing organisations held a demonstration outside the press club under the banner of Sindh Hari Porhiyat Council here on Saturday in protest against change in name of Nazir Abbasi road in his native town Tando Allahyar.

They condemned the district government of Tando Allahyar for changing the name of the road and said they would stage a protest in Tando Allahyar and reinstall the signboard.

NAME NOT CHANGED Tando Allahyar District Nazim Dr Rahila Magsi has categorically denied reports of change in name of Nazir Abbasi road and described them as 'totally false propaganda'.

“It is part of the vicious campaign launched by my political opponents who after having failed to dislodge me from the post of district nazim, have now resorted to third degree tactics,” she said and added that neither the name of the road had been changed nor the signboard had been removed.
