SANGHAR, July 19: A man has been arrested for killing his pregnant wife with the help of four accomplices in village Piyaro Moto, on Wednesday night in the jurisdiction of Tando Adam police station.

The man, Arbab Ali Moto, has confessed the crime and the police have arrested one of his accomplices, Manthar Moto.

Earlier, it was reported to the police that a five-man gang had barged into the house of Maula Bakhsh Moto with intention to take away cattle-heads and, on the inmates’ hue and cry, opened fire killing, Ms Husna (25), who was in the advance stage of pregnancy.

However, it transpired during the investigation that the leader of the ‘gang’ was actually Husna’s husband, Arbab Moto, who had planned her murder. Arbab had earlier accused his wife of being a ‘Kari’ (a woman maintaining extra-marital relations) and liable to be killed.

Fearing his life, she took refuge at her brother’s home.

On Wednesday night, Arbab Moto, along with Manthar Moto, Ali Murad Rind, Khadim Rind and Rafique Rind, disguised as thieves, barged into the house of Maula Bakhsh Moto, shot her dead and fled.

The police have recovered Arbab’s pistol.

ROBBERY ATTEMPT: Six armed persons barged into the house of Yaseen Rajput in Rajput Colony, Shahdadpur, on Wednesday night and took away cash, ornaments, TV and other valuables worth Rs100,000.

On the hue and cry of the victims, people of the area gathered there and chased the robbers who fled towards a nearby banana orchard.

The robbers fled after an exchange of fire which lasted for about 30 minutes, leaving behind the loot. Police arrested two suspects, Mohammad Khaskheli and Bholo Rajput.
