Bahawalpur win polo contest

ISLAMABAD, Nov 3: Bahawalpur Reds, enjoying a one-and-a-half goal handicap, defeated President’s Bodyguards 7-6 1/2 in the final of the Brink’s Cup polo tournament at Rawalpindi Polo Club Saturday.

Gladiators beat PAF Blues 4 1/2-4 to take the third place in the tournament which marked the conclusion of autumn season at Rawalpindi Polo Club during which six tournaments were played.

In the high goal (0-6 goal) final between Bahawalpur Reds and PBG, winners’ Capt Umer Minhas slammed home five goals, including three in the second chakkar. Sawar Muhammad Akbar scored one goal.

For PBG, Taimur Mawaz was the leading scorer with three goals. Maj Muhammad Kamran Aslam (2) and Hassan Jaffer Khan (1) were the other scorers.—APP
