KARACHI, July 18: The Inspector-General of the Sindh Police, Syed Kamal Shah, said here on Thursday the man who was behind the bomb explosion outside the US consulate had been identified.

“We have the name of the man and the area where he belongs,” the IG said and added that he was a Pakistani.

He was talking to newsmen at the Police Lines Garden during the launching of environment-friendly silencers for rickshaws.

He said suspect Imran had already confessed his involvement in the incident and the conspiracy to attack the motorcade of Gen Pervez Musharraf during his visit to Karachi.

About the DNA report of the dead body which was supposed to be of Daniel Pearl’s, the IG said the DNA report had not yet been received by the Karachi police, and that they had sent reminders to the authorities concerned through the Home Department, Sindh.

About the arrest of the most wanted people, he said no one whose names appeared on the list issued by the Sindh government had, so far, been arrested. — APP
