KARACHI, July 18: The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) and KESC have jointly launched a campaign to carry out an ambient air and noise pollution study in and around the city, which would continue up to July 30.

The objectives of the study are to study the concentration level of the major pollutants, to identify pollutant sources using chemical and statistical methods, to assess ambient air quality in the areas as well as long-range transport pollutants, and to assess prevailing noise levels, said a SUPARCO press release.

It was said that the whole city could be divided into various zones with respect to emission sources, ie residential, industrial, commercial.
