KARACHI, July 17: Sindh governor Mohammedmian Soomro on Wednesday inaugurated the upgraded eye department of Qatar Hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, the governor said that the Sindh government’s Qatar Hospital was a major peripheral hospital serving the poor population of Orangi Town.

He said he felt very pleased to learn about the facts and figures of the working and development of the hospital and his faith in the efforts for self-help had grown stronger.

“I expect that the development of this hospital will at least keep at its present pace in future also”, the governor said and added that he expected philanthropists to continue to extend their help to future projects of the hospital.

He expressed thanks to the Fred Hollows Foundation of Australia for selecting the remotely located hospital for the provision of modern and sophisticated eye-care facilities.

Present, among others, on the occasion were country representative of the Fred Hollows Foundation, Dr Rubina Gillani; director general health Sindh, Prof Ziauddin Shaikh; provincial coordinator and project director Prevention and Control of Blindness Programme in Sindh. —APP
