The all Important plaque!

Published November 4, 2001

SAHIWAL, Nov 3: The Nazims of Sahiwal district and its two tehsils, instead of concentrating on development work, are at loggerheads on the issue of putting a plaque on a newly-constructed bus terminal and an overhead bridge.

Sahiwal tehsil Nazim Rana Aamir Shahzad Tahir inaugurated the bus terminal at Arifwala-Sahiwal chowk on Nov 1 and placed a plaque accordingly.

District Nazim Rai Hasan Nawaz had the plaque removed on Saturday at an ‘inaugural ceremony’ presided over by him, and instead placed a new plaque.

The terminal was, it may be noted, constructed by the Sahiwal Municipal Committee.

In the other incident, Chichawatni tehsil Nazim Chaudhry Tufail Jat on Nov 1 inaugurated an overhead bridge constructed by the Punjab government. District Nazim Hasan Nawaz has decided to inaugurate the bridge on Nov 6 for which the arrangements are in the final stages. He may remove the plaque put the Chichawatni tehsil nazim and place his own plaque there.
