KARACHI, July 16: Secretary production Dr. Akram Shaikh has asked the management of Pakistan Steel to take measures to enhance its production up to 1.1 million tons during 2002-03 and assured full support of the ministry in this regard.

He was addressing the performance review meeting of Pakistan Steel here on Monday.

Mohammad Iqbal Malik, senior joint secretary; Zahid Aziz, chief, Experts Advisory Cell; and Mohammad Afzal Khan, chairman, Pakistan Steel, briefed the secretary about the Pakistan Steel performance.

Earlier, Dr. Akram Sheikh visited the Steel Making Department, specially to inspect the installation work of the giant Waste Heat Boiler, which has been prepared and installed by the engineers of Pakistan Steel. He also visited the Oxygen Plant to see the improvements following capital repairs which have just completed.—APP
