LAHORE, July 15: District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmud has sought the cooperation of industrialists, traders and philanthropists for the conversion of the rickshaws to CNG to control environmental pollution.

Discussing plans for the environmental pollution control and beautification of the city with a bank chief and the regional manager of a food chain, here on Monday, the Nazim said that conversion of the rickshaws to CNG could go a long way in reducing noise and smoke pollution.

He said that the plan required financial investment which could not be met by the district government without the participation of the people.

The food chain management offered assistance for the development of a recreational park with a jogging track and recreational facilities for the children in the Lahore Township. The Nazim appreciated the offer.

Talking to a delegation of the woman district councillors, the district nazim said that he was considering the transfer of management of 64 city district government industrial schools to them. —Reporter
