LAHORE, July 14: Four dacoits shot dead a mill worker on resistance on the Bogiwal Road in Shalamar on Sunday morning.

Reports said the armed men stormed into Yousaf Khan’s mill along the road, held up all the workers and supervisory staff and collected cash and valuables worth around Rs300,000.

On resistance before fleeing, the intruders opened fire on the workers, injuring one Ghaus Shah, 35, a resident of Jhang. The dacoits escaped and the injured was taken to a nearby hospital where he died.

Shah is survived by a wife and two children. The body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy.

Police have registered a case with no arrest so far.

So far this year, around two dozen people have reportedly been killed and scores of others injured by dacoits in Lahore.

CAR-SNATCHING: A gang of carjackers drove away with two cars (LRE-1870 and IDK-6769) from Defence Housing Society and Jauhar Town, respectively.

Another car and three motorcycles were stolen in various parts of the city.

SUICIDE: A man committed suicide by taking poison at his house in Dharampura on Sunday.

Police said Muhammad Boota, 30, was admitted to the Mayo Hospital where he died.

Boota’s family told police that he was worried for the last some months over domestic problems.
