PARIS, July 12: Palestinian freelance photographer Imad Abu Zahra died in Jenin on Friday after being seriously wounded the other day by Israeli army gunfire.

He became the second journalist to have been killed this year by Israeli army gun-fire.

“It is intolerable that two journalists have been killed in the past five months by the Israeli army,” remarked Reporters Sans Frontieres (RSF) secretary-general Robert Menard.

“The Israeli army is acting with complete impunity. This is intolerable. How many more must die before the army stops attacking the media?,” the RSF spokesman asked.

According to Menard, more than 40 journalists have been wounded in shootings by the Israeli army since September 2000, with 17 of them wounded.
