MIRPURKHAS, June 29 The Mirpurkhas district council at its session on Monday approved annual budget of the district government with a surplus of Rs216,000 .
District Nazim Dr Sughra Junejo presented the budget with a total outlay of Rs3.101 billion. According to budget documents, the expenditures stood at Rs3.10 billion.
A sum of Rs437.798 million has been earmarked for the annual development programme of which 75 per cent would be spent on the ongoing schemes.
Dr Sughra Junejo told the members that the Sindh government would pay Rs2.496 billion as share according to the provincial finance commission.
She said Rs8.597 million had been allocated for the education sector, Rs2.553 million for the health sector and Rs1.10 million for the agriculture sector.
She said Rs140 million had been allocated for prevention of hepatitis, Rs150 million for medicines for Civil Hospital, Rs5.4 million for Digri taluka hospital, Rs4.18 million for taluka hospital Kot Ghulam Mohammed, whereas Rs38.22 million for health units and dispensaries.
The nazim said Rs3.5 million had been allocated for help of poor and deserving people, Rs5 million for two new ambulances for Civil Hospital and Rs5 million for victims of natural disaster.
SHIKARPUR The Shikarpur district council on Monday approved a budget of Rs2.44 billion for 2009-10.
District Nazim Mohammad Arif Mahar presented the budget at a session of the council presided over by its convener Taqi Abbas Kamario.
According to budget estimates, Rs1.929 billion were allocated for non-development expenditure, including salaries, and Rs511.00 million for development schemes, including those to be executed by citizens' community boards.
On development side, Rs160 million were allocated for road sector (ongoing), Rs73 million for education sector (ongoing), Rs112 million for buildings sector (ongoing), Rs40 million for drainage schemes (ongoing) and Rs95 million for new schemes (block allocation) and Rs31 million for CCB schemes.
The nazim told the members that Rs120 million had been allocated for 50 union councils.
NAUSHAHRO FEROZE Naushahro Feroze Taluka Nazim Muneer Ahmed Mubejo presented the taluka municipal administration's budget of Rs157.020 million for fiscal 2009-10 here on Monday at a session of the council.
Income sources declared in the budget were Rs126.184 million from octroi and district council tax, Rs4.555 million from other taxes, Rs630,000 from rents, Rs2.650 million from fees, Rs2.500 million from different incomes and Rs6.079 million from capital tax. A sum of Rs1 million was shown as expected grant from the Sindh government.
According to the budget document, Rs30.181 million have been earmarked for salaries, Rs14.188 million for contingency, services and repair, Rs61.160 million charged expenditure, Rs2.150 million for other dues while Rs100.344 million have been allocated for the annual development programme.
The nazim said it was a surplus budget as there would be a saving of Rs724,587.
NAWABSHAH The Nawabshah taluka council here on Monday approved a 'technically' surplus budget of Rs217.844 million for 2009-10.
Taluka Nazim Abdul Rauf Khan said in his budget speech that the receipts of taluka municipal administration (TMA) would stand at Rs217.844 million, according to budgetary estimates, while the expenditure would be Rs217.814 million.
The expenditures included Rs79.619 for the establishment, Rs3.63 million for contingencies, Rs10 million for electricity, Rs8 million for POL, Rs27 million for sanitation, Rs2.855 million for grants, Rs1.175 million for sports awards, refreshments and miscellaneous, Rs10.555 million for purchase of machinery and other necessary items, Rs2 million for development, Rs39.5 million for ongoing schemes, Rs29.105 million for repair and maintenance, Rs1 million for clearing liabilities and Rs3.375 for taluka council's expenses, he said.
The nazim said that an amount of Rs400,000 had been kept for the press club, Rs500,000 had been approved as grant for the gymkhana and Rs200,000 for the District Bar Association.
He said that the TMA had spent more than one billion on development and infrastructure during his four years term, which was much more than others TMAs.
