SUKKUR, July 11: A woman was killed and her husband and son were injured by eight armed bandits in Abdul Majeed village, near Daharki, on Thursday.

The bandits barged into the house of a peasant, Bashir Ahmad Arain, and looted cash, ornaments and other valuables and while fleeing, they also tried to take away eight buffaloes. When Bashir and his son, Mohammad Yaseen, 18, offered resistance, the bandits opened fire, killing Kanizan Bibi, 50, and seriously injuring Bashir and Yaseen.

Later, the villagers chased the bandits and an encounter took place between the bandits and the villagers. However, the bandits escaped, leaving behind the buffaloes.

Police registered the case and handed over the body to relatives after the postmortem examination.

The injured were taken to the Rahimyar Khan Hospital.
