LANDI KOTAL, July 11: Personnel of the Frontier Constabulary found and detonated a bomb near a helipad here on Thursday.

The bomb, suspected to be a time device was placed in bushes near the helipad, situated next to the under construction mausoleum of Pushto poet Amir Hamza Khan Shinwari.

An FC Jawan stationed at a picket spotted the explosive device during patrol.

The FC personnel detonated the device and handed over its samples to army authorities for investigation.

An army helicopter was expected to land at the location to lift food supplies for armymen stationed at Jaborhi in the Tirah area.

An army investigation team reached the venue and cordoned off the area, causing inconvenience to residents, who were stopped from going to their homes in the evening.

ACCIDENT: At least five Afghan refugees were injured when a passenger bus carrying them to Afghanistan turned turtle at Landi Khan near the Torkhum border.

About forty five refugees were travelling in the bus. The vehicle went out of the driver’s control reportedly due to speeding and fell into a dry stream. The injured were shifted to Landi Kotal hospital by Edhi ambulances.
