LLB degree of Kasur Bar VP found fake

KASUR, Nov 2: The Punjab University on Friday termed the LLB degree of the local district bar association vice-president factitious.

It is learnt the Punjab Bar Council had received a complaint that DBA vice-president Muhammad Azeem was practising as a lawyer illegally as his LLB degree was fake.

Taking action, the PBC referred the matter to the Punjab University.

On Friday, the university sent a letter No D/926/C to the PBC secretary, revealing that LLB degree of Muhammad Azeem s/o Muhammad Din was fictitious.

Police range: During his meeting with president Pervez Musharraf at the Chief Executive Secretariat in Islamabad, district Nazim Rana Imtiaz opposed the inclusion of the Kasur district in the Faisalabad police range.

He informed the president the decision would affect a great deal the police and the general public as the distance between two cities was 190 kilometres.

After listening to district Nazim’s complaint, the president assured him that the Kasur district would not be made a part of the Faisalabad range.

Later, the district Nazim also urged the president to restore flat rates of tubewells on which the president promised him to give it a sympathetic consideration.

The president also assured the Nazim of solving other problems, including the dualization of Lahore-Kasur Road, provision of gas and clean drinking water to the city.

EMPOWERED: The Punjab government has empowered district Nazims to grant NOC for holding melas, public functions, festivals and other programmes.

Earlier, these powers were enjoyed by district magistrates.

After the devolution of power, the general public was facing problems as no authority was delegated these powers.

WORRIES EXPRESSED: Public and social circles on Friday voiced their worries over the abolition of stops of Moosa Pak and Awami Express trains from Pattoki.

They said thousands of commuters were badly affected by the decision.

They demanded that authorities concerned should restore the stops at Pattoki without any delay.

RELEASED: At least 98 prisoners involved in petty crimes were released on Friday from the Kasur District Jail on the orders of a local district and sessions judge.

Meanwhile, Phoolnagar and Pattoki city police on Friday registered cases against 19 persons on the charge of selling fireworks.
