HYDERABAD, May 28 Intellectuals, writers and social workers paid homage to selfless academician late Dr Khan Mohammad Panhwar, founder of the Department of Mass Communication of the University of Sindh and Sindh Goth Sudhar Sangat, at his 10th death anniversary held at the Sindhi Language Authority here on Wednesday night.

The anniversary was jointly organised by Dr Khan Mohammad Panhwar Trust and Sindh Goth Sudhar Sangat and attended by a large number of writers, social workers, intellectuals as well as family members of Dr Panhwar.

Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui said that Dr Panhwar was a devoted social worker and an outstanding teacher.

He was a man of commitment who single-handedly established the Department of Mass Communication, he said and added that the best way to pay tribute to Dr Panhwar was to work for education specially girls' education in the province.

Senior journalist Zaheer Ahmed said that Dr Panhwar was a true follower of Shaikh Abdul Majeed Sindhi, G.M. Syed and Pir Hussamuddin Rashidi.

Noted writer Taj Joyo said that Dr Panhwar played a leading role during agitation against Ayoub Khan. He was an institution in his own right who produced great work in literature and journalism, he said.

Ms Naseem Khan Panhwar, Dr Panhwar's widow, said that Dr Panhwar always gave priority to society over his home and children.
