HYDERABAD, July 7: Sindh education minister Khan Mohammad Dahiri has said that the pending cases of promotions of teachers will be disposed of without further delay.

Talking to a delegation of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) at the circuit house here on Sunday, he said that the vacant posts in the education department would be filled strictly on merit basis.

The minister said that he would strive for promotion of education without any discrimination.

He called upon the officials of the education department to make all out efforts to bring about visible improvement in quality of education.

Our Bureau reports: Hyderabad District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman has called upon teachers and parents to pay full attention towards education of students.

He was speaking at the cash award ceremony of the matric and intermediate top ten students held here on Saturday under the aegis of the education department, Sindh.

He disclosed that President Gen Pervez Musharraf had approved setting up of a hockey stadium in Hyderabad and added that PC-1 in this context had already been submitted.

Chairman, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad, Prof Syed Sultan Abbas said that Rs1.9 million was being distributed among 65 students.

Later the district Nazim, Makhdoom Rafiquzzaman the DCO Mir Hussain Ali, chairman, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Karachi, Dr Sharif Ahmed, and chairman, BISE, Larkana, Ali Nawaz Palejo, distributed cheques of Rs15,000 each among the top ten students who had earned distinctions in various subjects.
