PESHAWAR, July 6: The NWFP cabinet at a meeting held in Nathiagali on Saturday discussed the draft ordinance for the establishment of health regulatory authority, which would include both the private and public sectors.

The meeting also approved the leasing out of hydel power stations and distribution of power system of the SHYDO (Sarhad Hydel Development Organization) for 10 years.

It was decided that the health department should carry out a study of its working and pinpoint its weak points, in addition to suggesting remedial measures in this respect. The department was asked to submit its report in 10 days.

The cabinet also decided to accelerate the construction process of Pehur Hydel Power Project, extension in Rashoon Hydel Power Project and construction of Sheeshe Hydel Power Project.

GOMAL MEDICAL COLLEGE: Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah formally approved the provision of government-owned 300 kanal land for the construction of the new building of Gomal Medical College in Dera Ismail Khan and directed the authorities concerned to start work on the project immediately. This was decided at a high-level meeting, according to a handout issued on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by provincial ministers Dr Mehr Taj Roghani and Aminullah Khan Gandapur and other officials, besides the district Nazim of Dera Ismail Khan Sardar Latifullah Alizai.

The governor directed the authorities that there should be no further delay in this connection, and practical work must be taken in hand by next week.
