So today we are going to take a look one such free application that works well with low-end Java enabled phones in addition to the Symbian ones and sends images directly to the web.
Glogger is available from glogger.mobi. After downloading, the tool requires registration for which it asks for username, password and email address on which Glogger account details are sent after the account is created.
Along with this, phone brand and customer resolution can be checked if required. All other information fields can be left to their defaults. If at any time the application is reinstalled or used over a different handset, simply select the 'Already registered' option at the right soft key and enter username and password.
Now the application is ready to take snaps, and camera preview automatically starts as soon as the application starts. Ensure that the one-time permission to allow camera usage and connecting to the internet is set so that security prompts do not appear every time a snap is taken.
This can be done by using right soft key with Glogger selected in handset's file manager, and selecting Permission/Security and then selecting Ask once/Allow always option depending upon the handset brand or operating system. Note that Glogger doesn't work with phones that do not have explicit multimedia permission settings available in them.
To take snaps, simply press More>Capture or Capture whichever option appears on the phone. Snapshots are uploaded within seconds to the Glogger website which can be accessed at glogger.mobi/username. This makes it easy for others to follow what is being captured al
most instantaneously.
Friends can easily view images over the web or download it on their own computers or handsets. This also means an easy way to receive captured images over any PC if USB/Bluetooth is not available for instant transfer. Uploaded images can be made private or kept public, depending upon the sharing preferences. Then there is a web-based upload option as well after logging on to Glogger.mobi website.
Other interesting stuff available after login is a short URL for each image called 'easy link' that can be shared with other mobile users. To share the link directly from Glogger, simply click ShareThis and enter recipient email address.
Other ways of sharing include importing contact list from Gmail, Yahoo, AIM, AOL and MSN, or posting over popular content sharing and networking sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter or over bookmarking sites such as Digg, Delicious, Stumbleupon, or even to blogs such as Blogger, TypePad and WordPress among many other sites. Also, there is an option of copying embedded link to display the image where ever required over a personal website.
Glogger is available for download in different versions with different capabilities. For J2ME enabled (Java) phones, there is Glogger Lite 2.2, and for Symbian phones, more advanced versions are available that support accelerometre, auto-focus and live video streaming, panoramic views etc.
